Just wanted to know if I can avoid the custom install option (if at all
possible.)

The double install is not time consuming, nor does it use any more
disk space. The secret is to make the second install a clean install.
That way, the first install will be saved in windows.old, which you
can delete. When I installed 64 bit Win 7 Pro, each install only
took 17 minutes, on an i7 system. Win 7 has the fastest Windows
install.
