As a follow up to my comment, my Norton phishing protection in NIS shuts
down when I use IE8.
I'm wondering why it's doing that.
Opening NIS and clicking "fix it" solves the problem quickly till next time
IE8 starts again..

You might want to post your issue to the Symantec Forums or search if others
are having the same issue as you.

I used the version installed on the 7000 version of Windows 7 and didn't
have any problems apart from a site I use on a regular basis had problems
when it got to the payment section of the site, had to boot back into Vista
to pay using that site.

I think I'll wait a bit longer before installing on my Vista machine to give
the site time to get itself compatible with IE8

Honestly, Robin, I'm underwhelmed with it and still prefer Google CHROME for
performance. I also thought IE7 was fine the way it was, but I'm no expert
on security, etc. I just know what I like and what works for my systems. It
is probably my "Comfortable Rut Syndrome" speaking but...that's the way I
see it thus far.

Hi Robinb

IE8 RTP? As far as accessing this NG is concerned it has been a PITA - RC1
was much better for me. It has taken me two days to get to a point where I
can make a post! I`ve had the following probs.

1. Can`t always expand a thread.

2. If it expands I can`t always read a particularit post cos it times out
with something like eg .... not available or no text.

3. When I select a particular NG I frequently get a ... Service Temporarily
Unavailable in type font point which is considerably larger than the `We are
sorry for the inconvienience. Please try again later` which follows. That
gives the impression of a shallow apology to me.

4. Last but by no means least. After first installing I found I couldn`t
post cos when I selected the `New or `Reply` icons the page would take ions
to ponder then eventually refresh without a message box! The only way I was
able to resolve the problem, more by accident than design I suspect, was to
go over to the IE8 NG, try a test post (which worked) then come back here
where it has since worked. Only to a point though. Today it is insisting I
give a display name before I can post. I was under the impression that is
already contained in my profile. I see others have reported similar probs on
the IE8 NG.

Other than that, it is really working well <smile>

C`est la Vie,

Stu

I'll do some checking--I've got 4 WHS boxes, which I believe are all now
running released Power Pack 2, and released IE8.

I'll go back and see if my recollection is correct and those versions really
are in place, and then I'll try some browsing.

Usually all I see about IE on the WHS is the desktop warning page....

I think this is interesting:

If you have found a bug in IE8, the IE8 bug database is now open to the public--no need to set up a Connect account.

http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/200...-feedback.aspx

You can vote on the bugs which are most important to your usage, and later will be able to give feedback on what should be included in the next IE version.
