From a support point of view if that's the goal you should upgrade. If you
don't have any other reason to upgrad why would you want to consider it? Most
db's are backward compatible so they sould all work in the newer versions as
well. Benefits... hmm that depends on what you think are benefits. My point
on that can only be if you are willing to make changes to the database and
are willing to try the new features than that's the point where you can take
advantages of the benefits.
