repost ..... sorry .....

Hi! ......... I'm looking for a AV program that has the following
features..........
1] ... offers frequent incremental updates for virus signatures
that can be downloaded for manual installation.
2]... the AV program must be stand-alone and not have any
need to write to your registry.enabling it to be run from a
flash-drive or cd-rom or other such media.
3] ... it does not matter if the AV program runs under DOS or
from within Windows.
4] ... have a good track record of virus detection....

Any suggestrions? ......
Thank you.

I think Microworld MWAV fits the bill. It uses the Kaspersky scan
engine which is top notch:

Absolutely wonderful proggy Art...except the part where it identifies
some little nasty and then asks you if you want to buy the program to
solve the problem...but I'm sure you knew that!

Yes, the free version is highly suspect It doesn't have removal
capability anyway. I suspect the paid version is probably a ok product
though.

I have one up that you might find to be of use.

http://www.theory-x.net/users/erick/tt/vte/VTE.HTM

VTE is technically not a standalone, as you have to have the VB6
runtime files installed. The databases can easily be altered with no
difficulty. Accuracy... fairly decent, and you will find that it will
detect nearly any virus when it scans. On average, you can scan a
drive under most circumstances in a few minutes time.
