Hello ,

I have XP SP2.

I just bought a Samsung SCX-4200 Laser jet printer . It needs USB 2.0 . On
my notebook I only have 4 USB 1.1 slots .

I do have a card slot . So I buy the " Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Notebook Card
" . Printer would not work until I downloaded

the latest driver . For some reason I had difficulty getting the driver to
install because it would stop in the middle of the installation

and tell me a " This is a Windows STOP MESSAGE " . When I installed the
driver ( eventually ) everything worked ok until today .

Now my laptop does not recognize that I even have this Belkin card installed
.. Is this card faulty now ; is it my computer ?

Are there any other alternatives I could try to get my printer to work on my
3 yr old laptop ?

Thanks for any help in advance .

I have a Intel Pentium 4 . How do I get the information to do this ?

By-the-way , the laptop is a 3 yr old Northgate . An American firm that went
out of
business in April 2005 .

I went to to Intel site and download the chipset identification utility and
I get the message that "
Intel® Chipset Identification Utility
System Information

This system does not contain an Intel Chipset

"

But I know I am running a Pentium 4 ..????

The Manufacturer ID of the motherboard is 9999 and is unlisted .

It is probably a Taiwanese motherboard .

What do I do now ?

In the meantime I ordered a replacement Belkin card like the original just
in case something is wrong

with the card .

I see from your other post you have a new Belkin card on the way, hope it
does the trick..
You might check here for support, (http://www.supportfornorthgate.com/)
though I'm not impressed at all with this outfit, if it was my call, I would
get another laptop from a solid & reputable OEM with decent support options..
Click on the "about us" tab and you get no info about the company at all,
that's just outrageous, and inexcusable.. Maybe just a bad link, but not a
good omen none the less..

I know, getting a new laptop is easier said than done, aye mate..?
Cheers
