i have a problem with Windows 2000, it does not works with Norton Anti virus/ Mcafee anti virus

both antiviruses install on it but after a few minutes of normal working the pc shutdowns and reboots such that some body has pushed the reset button. then if you try to uninstall the antivirus from the Add/Remove programe menu it does the same thing again. i have worked on the same PC with Win98 and Norton AV 2002 for an year and no such error occurs

Hi,

You cannot have two AVP running on one system at the same time. Uninstall both and reinstall
one. And while you have the one you want on it, go to http://securityresponse.symantec.com/
and run the free online virus scan. After, if you have any infections, print the page, go to
Google and type the virus or file name in and look for the Symantec fix page for it. Do the
fixing one line at a time from the top and don't leave anything out or it will be right
back.

It looks like you upgraded from W98, and just to let you know, you brought all the junk with
you. An upgrade with an OS that's already been used for a year, as you say, has inherent
problems. I suggest you Clean Install W2K, and then you can get one AVP running correctly.
