I have installed Norton systemworks 2005 and AVG antivirus (freeware)
software. Both at different times. When the antivirus is installed only, my
DVD burner, cd burner, dvd rom drives will not read any disks. Also all of
the USB ports will not read any of the devices plugged in. I have had a
month of e-mails with Norton, and they have no idea. Has any one else had
this problem, and were you able to fix it?

You do realize that Norton System Works contains Norton Antivirus software,
and along with AVG antivirus installed, you have 2 AV software packages
installed - not a "good" thing - a very "bad" thing. Pick an AV software
and stick with it, don't mix/match.
I've basically ditched all Norton products, they've gotten too damn
intrusive and full of "bloatware" - in other words they've made a mountain
out of a mole hill. I use AVG Pro, 2 years for $30, for over a year now,
and it's done a terrific job and isn't such a memory hog.
