I don't follow. If they're only running AVG AV and not keeping it up
to date and not also properly running anti-spyware apps such as
AdAware and Spybot S&D, it is likely they would get hijacked if they
don't understand safe hex. But I imagine the same would hold true for
any antivirus app.
And are these cases viruses and worms (which an updated AVG should
hopefully catch) or is it more a case of spyware like Smitfraud or
Spylocked or porn dialers (which is more the job of anti-spyware apps)?
And isn't it possible that the vast majority of posters running AVG are
using it simply because it's popular? I mean, I use it.
FWIW, I would never recommend that a user only use AVG Pro (which I
know also covers spyware, but I'm sure not as thoroughly as apps like
Spybot S&D).
