AntiVir from H+BEDV?

When it comes to free anti-virus programs, I see AVG mentioned a lot
in this group, but rarely anything about AntiVir from the German
company H+BEDV. I've been using this program for about 6 months with
great success. I like it much better than Norton. Comments? Anyone
else using AntiVir?

I used it for a while but I found it rather slow and bloated, and you
had to download a whole new program every time there was an update.

I reverted back to using Tech-Protect, a GUI shell for F-Prot for Dos
which I wrote myself. More information at
http://www.tech-pro.net/techprotect.html if anyone is interested.

AntiVir is the antithesis of bloated when compared the Norton. As for
slow, I haven't had any problems. My only complaint with the program
is that it doesn't scan e-mail attachments until you actually try to
copy, move, or open them.

It's true that they update the scan engine rather frequently, but it's
not every time they issue a virus definition.

You're probably right. I won't allow anything from Symantec anywhere
near my computer, and haven't for years. Last time I tried Norton was
back in the 1990's, and it was getting bloated even then.

Yes, sure we are interested in your solution to the problem of
integrating F-Prot, which is of high reputation, comfortably into the
Windows environment at low cost.

THX for the hint!

I've got two machines both running AntiVir, AVG and avast and out the three
I prefer AntiVir. While its not perfect it hasn't had the problems AVG had
with being unable to connect to its servers for updates, and it loads faster
and seems to have less overhead than avast when run as the resident
scanner.

And when I submitted a file to them (trojan) that it didn't detect they
replied within hours to say that they had added its signature to the next
update.
