Hello everyone,

I have a question about AntiSpyware programs. If I bought such a program,
would I still need to run MS Defender or should I run both at the same time?

Thanks!

Billy

If you purchased an anti-spyware program that runs resident like
Defender does, you would not need to run Defender. No, you shouldn't run
both at the same time.

That said, I'd be very cautious about installing a third-party
anti-spyware program that runs resident just yet. Unless you know for
sure that you're going to do Naughty Surfing, I think I'd just use
Defender and wait for a few months before installing third-party stuff.

You may find that you don't need the third-party stuff. It is far too
early to know how vulnerable Vista will be.

Webroot SpySweeper is Vista-compatible (I've been using it for a month or
so) and is a far, far, far better program than Windows Defender. I have
Defender completely disabled on my machine, and use SpySweeper and AVG
Antivirus. They're effective, non-intrusive and each has daily updates.
