Once you restart your computer try running the program for
any spyware that may already be installed on your
computer. Secondly, when you uninstalled your software did
you reboot your system before renstalling the program?
Also, did you uninstall from as well as from the start
program? I have found that many programs have to be
uninstalled both ways before the system actually
uninstalls itself. And as always reboot your system after
each function.

Have done that all to no avail. Its really quite
frustrating because it is the best antispyware i've used.
but it won't remember my spyware schedule, my preferences
or to autoupdate

If you are installing on Windows 2000, Windows XP, or
Windows Server 2003, you must install with administrator
privileges.

Chris--here's something that I think will work for this issue:

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) delete the \program files\microsoft antispyware folder and all
subfolders. You will lose access to anything in quarantine, and all history
and customized settings.
3) taking care to be logged in as the administrator user who will use the
program, reinstall Microsoft Antispyware.
