AntiSpyware hangs during scan

When I run AntiSpyware, (Version 1.0.701, defs 5773) it scans until is gets
to a registry entry for Wintools. At that point, I get a "System low on
memory" message and the scan does not complete. The mouse will respond, and
I can open other applications (very slowly) but the scan will not complete.
I have to do a hard reset in order to clear it.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software with the same
results.

Wintools has been uninstalled and is not on the list of installed software
and the files on the hard drive have been deleted.

Any suggestions?

Hi C.J.,

Try performing a repair and see if can then finish the scan.

Here's 2 ways to do that:

1. Goto "Start Menu" > "Control Panel" > "Add/Remove Programs" > Click
"Microsoft Antispyware" and you will see "Click Here For Support Information"
press this and then choose "Repair".

2. You can also press Change on the Add/Remove screen entry then when the
maintenance wizard opens press "Update" then "Install

I have an identical problem on an XP-Professional SP2 system. I have tried
the 'Repair', but the problem stayed. This appears to be a 'known problem'
with Beta 1. Is there any other solution?
