I am running a cable connection and firefx. My Antispyware,
durin manual connection attempts,gives the message that no
internet connection is detected.

So much for that! No connection so no spyware..lazy software?

Anyone got a fix?

The fix is extremely simple with XP SP2. If you aren't at
that level, you might consider using a third-party utility-
-see the second link below:

Ensure that Internet Explorer or Outlook Express is
working online, open IE,from the File menu, ensure
that "Work Offline is not checked.

I didn't realize that the Antispyware was only active when
another software was on the net, a browser such as IE was
the example you gave. With AVG, for example, I can download
updates manually at any time. You infer that this is not
the case with Antispyware?
