It could be possible that you have spyware on your system:
Yes, do a full system scan in safe mode, open Microsoft AntiSpyware, on the
scan page, choose Scan Options > Full System scan, make sure all boxes are
checked then click "Run Scan Now".

Also:
Run antivirus (with current definitions) while you are in safe mode.
It could be that Microsoft AntiSpyware is still loading while you attempt to
use those other applications that have slowed down. Also check the file
sized of your error log under c:\programs files\Microsoft AntiSpyware, if
its really big, shut down Microsoft AntiSpyware from the system tray, go
back to c:\programs files\Microsoft AntiSpyware and delete the error log,
uninstall MSAS restart the machine and reinstall.
