Anti virus for Linux/ftp server

When users upload files to our linux server (ftp) I want it to be
scanned on the Linux server before it accepts it. Is there any
opensource utility for achieving this?

Use f-prot or Clamav via a cron job. like Scan every 30
minutes or so.
Would that work ?
