I have heard from some friends that McAfee will not
function properly with XP. Which company would you suggest
to use/is the best for home computer protection? McAfee or
Norton?

Hi,

The latest McAfee and Norton both support XP.
I personally use Norton and am very happy with it but the
choice is yours.

Regards,

Tim

I just switched to Version 7 at work and everything works fine. We have used
earlier versions with XP also and had no problems. I use Norton at home and
that also works well.

Not true. However, I use neither. My choice for an anti-virus program is AVG
6.0 from Grisoft. It is a free download. In addition, I use AdAware from
Lavasoft for anti-spyware - also free. Another good choice is Spybot -
again, free.

I also use AVG 6.0.....No problems yet and best of all it's free! I also
use Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy, to keep the spyware at bay.

However, with the free AVG 6.0 software, you get no support if you run into
a big problem.

I've ran AVG for well over a year and have never had any trouble....I've had
both Norton and McAfee and used their support multiple times, at least with
AVG I have yet to need the support function. I think it's whatever the
person using the program needs.....if he feels he needs the support, then
purchase a program with support. I personally like AVG, that's just my
opinion.
