anti-spyware program freezes

I'm running windows 2000 at work and anytime I run the ms
antispyware it freezes at this point

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\toolbar\PlugIns

I uninstalled and reinstalled the program but with no
change. Any suggestions how to fix this??
