I have installed MS Anti Spyware on my computer, but it
does not launch. When I check my task manager, MS
antispyware takes 98% of CPU usage and it just freeze.
Any suggestions to fix this problem?

I have a similar problem I can eventually load the
program. When I click on run scan now, the box turns to
the blue background and nothing shows up. Over night it
ran the scan and told me there were problems I click on
the box to fix it, and loaded to that same page as
mentioned before. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3
times, always the same problem. What could be wrong?

It might help if both of you checked the errors.log file in the directory in
which Microsoft Antispyware is installed. Sometimes there are specific
conflicts with files as part of the installation that yield an incomplete
install.

When you are installing, are you running as Administrator?

It might help to try installing in Safe mode--not sure whether that's
possible or not.

Before resorting to Safe Mode, you can try running msconfig and choosing a
"diagnost startup" which loads only essential drivers and services, then
rebooting. It's less "drastic" than Safe Mode --- Windows runs normally. But
if you rely on a software firewall, I'd disconnect from the internet first
because it might not load.

Thanks for mentioning the caveat about the software firewall perhaps not
loading--that's an issue with third-party firewalls that I'd never
considered.

I've just downloaded the latest version of this (Build 1.0.614) and like all
the others it just hangs when you press search for spyware. I can't
understand why Microsfot cant produce software like this that is compatible
with most pc's. This is the ONLY software on my machine that refuses to run.

I like Tom Emmelot's idea.

It would help if you would post a given problem once, in one group, so that
the conversation is focussed.

It is also a good idea to post a new thread--i.e. don't reply to completely
unrelated messages--this just muddies the water.
