There is an option in Advanced Tools called Browser Hijack
Restore which is supposed to fix the problem. But as far
as I can tell it doesn't understand the about:blank (sp)
hijack and can't remove it. It probably also can't remove
the CoolWebSearch hijacker either since that works the
same way.

There is a free program called EMS Freesurfer which is
mainly for killing popups but offers an option in its
config to lock the home page. I've never seen it
overridden.

If you want to run HijackThis, SCAN your system then SAVE
LOG and send me the log as an attachment I will tell you
how to get rid of your hijacker and how to prevent it from
coming back.

SpywareGuard sort of does the same thing. (block changes
to IE homepage setting)

#1-> The program is still in beta
#2-> if an item of spyware is missed many of the nasty
ones can reinstall and repair themslves (if you find the
left over items report it so it can be added to the
definitians)
#3-> you may (or should i say likly) have a trojan virus
on the system. The trojan virus will open a port in the
firewall ... when the web servers distributing the
spyware ping your ip and specific port opened by the
trojan virus the an opertunity to reinstall the spyware
is found ... once you are located as a canidate your ip
is saved by them and they check up on you and reinstall.

Microsoft Antispyware is not an antivirus program you you
will need to seek an alternative to answer the trojan
question.

I'm here with the same issue. My homepage hijacks
to "Easy-Search.Biz" Each time I run the Beta it "finds"
easy-search.biz and deletes it. However, the page never
changes. I have changed the defaults through the beta and
each time I go back they have hijacks.
I've run Norton's, Spysweeper, have spysubtract warning
me the page is hijacked and have used Ad Aware. Nothing
works. I did find "msqdevl.exe" that when cliccked on
dispayed the hijack page. I killed that but the problem
remains.
My guess is the hijacker is hidden somewhere and
periodiclly hijacks the home page.
What to do?
