Just finished building my latest upgrade.

Switched from:
ASUS A8N Premium, AMD4400+ 939, 2GB of ValuePlus DDR400 RAM, Leadtek 6600GT Extreme

To:
ASUS P5K, E6600 2.4GHz, 4GB of Corsair 5-5-5-12 DDR2800 RAM, Leadtek 8600GT Extreme

Rebuilt took about 20 mins, including 4 with the hoover attachment to suck out 3kg of dead skin.

Have to say... seems to go like stink! Aquamark3 (old I know, but it's the bench I've always used!) shows 127,291 which is a speed increase of just over 100%!!!

Wish I'd realised that XP couldn't see 4GB of RAM (D'OH!!) but it can see 3.25 so it's a good increase.

Give it 18months and I'll be up to a 45nm quad core and Vista 64bit!

Jock

Nah. Got a good price on the 8600GT. Special offer. Supposed to be the 256MB model but yipee when I've plugged it in the system is reporting 512MB RAM - result!

I got that with my Nvidia 7300GS. No gaming on that machine, so just a low card. But double the ram to what it says on the box do put a smile on my boatrace
