Hello everyone:

I am unable to compile a working XP Embedded OS from the two PID key we
received from the distributor. The OS would give the following error
with the PID entered:

1. Stop 9A Blue Screen Error - System_License_Violation
2. FBALOG.txt only indicate one error - "Invalid Product Key"

The format I entered the PID: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX (25 PID + 4
Dash = Total of 29) is correct according to the Newsgroup. Below are
the reasons I believe why the PID itself is invalid:

1. The OS boots perfectly fine without the PID entered.
2. We are running XP Embedded SP2. There is a possibility these are
SP1 PIDs which would not work on SP2.
3. 6/08/05 user Don Streng from the Embedded Newsgroup received an
invalid PID as well, a new PID fixed his problem.

Do you guys think I made the correct judgement? I already went throu
every single post on System_License_Violation. Thanks!

I think you have made the correct judgment :-)

Why not contacting the Distributor and let them know the PID didn't work for you? (make sure to let them know what SP you use, there
was some problems with some PID to use on both)
XPe Distributors usually pretty open to work out PID problems with you.

Hello KM:

Thanks, I just contacted the distributor to send me a new one. I am a
bit paranoid because my supervisor had that disbelief look on his face.
I dont understand either how can a simple PID goes wrong. BTW, my
boot sector size is set correctly to 5000 max value (10GB partition).

Just let him build the image by himself :-) Just kidding...

I had no doubt about it since you mentioned "The OS boots perfectly fine without the PID entered.".

PS. IIRC, we have had a similar issue a while ago when some PIDs we received from Microsoft didn't work on SP2 images.
That time we couldn't figure out what the reason was. Our customer was provided with new PIDs which worked fine.
