I have read countless questions and answers regarding this same problem, and
the general consensus is to remove the old versions of Outlook prior to
installing '07. Well, I sure wish I had known that prior to trying
it.....

This is a brand new computer.......it is 5 days old. I installed Office
Pro 2003 several days ago, then over the weekend decided to do the 2007
Trial. I installed Office Pro 2007 but did not remove Outlook 2003
first. I have since removed Outlook 2003, Office Pro 2003, and
Office Pro 2007. I have run "Registry Mechanic" several times, and
rebooted countless times.

I have also removed Publisher. I have not removed Outlook
Express........didnt think that would matter, since I never use it.

Anyway, What seems to be the problem here? No matter what I do,
it wont let me install Outlook 2007..........it has the famous Red X in the
installer.....

I have now spent hours of time that I simply don't have messing around with
this. Does anyone have any suggestions for my next move? Of course, I
could just install all 2007 programs besides Outlook and just use Outlook
2003.......but I was really looking forward to using some of the new
features......

Please help....

Thanks,

Mike

It's impossible to know since you've provided few details. Bottom line is that, to get the Outlook 2007 trial to install, you need to:

a) Remove any previous version of Outlook.

b) Use the customization option of Office 2007 setup to explicitly choose Outlook as one of the applications to install.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930559/ for more information on this issue.

Why would you want to do that?

Uninstalling your current Outlook will not jeoparize your existing data and
Outlook 2007 will be able to reuse it. Forget the words "import" and
"export".
