Just for fun: let's take a reasonably snappy connection (I am using a modest 1 Gb connection here as an example), and do a little speedtest world tour.

These results are by no means canonical Internet weather does change from hour to hour. However: it might not be a total waste of time to ponder... um... like, "should I get this fancy new 1 Gb [home] connection, or would 200 Mb be enough? Or should I save the money and make do with the basic 40 Mb connection? Would I even notice the difference most of the time?"

Blimey Urmas I wish I could get speeds like that. We moved to here and connected to BT and all we could get was 0.3Mb/s so I now have wireless internet and that varies betewn 3Mb/s to 10Mb/s. seems to be affected by the weather.

True dat... never mind the fact that I'm WAAAAAY past the uni age -- the uni student age, that is.

The point here -- if there is a point -- is that great speeds are relative (and to some extent, random -- depending on the global internet weather.)

Those speeds are just ridiculous..
