I currently installed a Windows XP Sp1 and later upgraded to SP2 on my p3
700mhz processor, 384mb ddram, using sony optical mouse, avast 4.7
antivirus. Now the problem am facing is anytime i open a program with a
vertical scroll bar, the scrolling slider scrolls automatically down to the
buttom of the opened window as if i were scrolling (eg ms word, adobe
acrobat etc) and hence i cant read anything on the first page of the document
and subsequent page but remains at the last page. and when i try to scroll
the slider up, it "refuses" to move up. please what is the problem. googled
but all i get are unrelated issues. thanks

Shut down your virus program and try it.
