I am creating a slide show to introduce the organization's
leadership at a conference. I wanted to show the map of
the United States and then as each leader is introduced,
the map of the US would dim or diminish in some way and
the 2-6 states that those leaders represented would be
highlighted or enlarged in some way. I have a small file
with a map and our intro slide. Any ideas on how to
highlight just a few states from a map of the US? Thanks,

It is important to know what version of PowerPoint you are using. This is
doubly so when discussing animations.

Do you have access to a photo editing program? If so, you can take the map
you have and cut out everything except the territory. Paste the edited
image exactly on to of the original and dim the original. Repeat process
for other territories.

Nice effect, can be used, one way or another, with any version of
PowerPoint.

You may want to take your U S map and save it as a
bitmap, then using paint, you could color in the states
for each region. You would have to do this each time and
save each as a separate file but it should do the job.
