For VB.NET Whidbey, you have My classes that let you do easy things like:

My.Computer.Network.Ping(ipAddress)

In most cases, the My classes wrap new functionality in the System
namespace. I spent some time speluking My.Computer.Network to find out what
it's really using underneath and posted the results here:
