and xp won't let me change her doc's & settings folder name from Anne to

any kinda registry thing or something i can do to please Ann ???

Log in as an admin.
Create a new user.
Name it Ann.
Log out.
Log on as Ann.
Log out.
Log in as Anne.
Use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to export Anne's Profile.
Log out.
Log in as Ann.
Use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to import Anne's Profile onto Ann's
profile.
Log out.
Reboot.
Log in as an Ann.
If everything is there, log out.
If everything is not there, log out, log in as an admin - look in Anne's
profile (C:\Documents and Settings\Anne) and copy whatever else you need
from Anne's profile to Ann's profile.)
Log out.
Log in as an admin.
Remove the "Anne" profile and all files through the control panel.

Just go to Control Panel, select classic view, click on the User Account's
icon and select/pick Anne's account, click on change the name and change it
to Ann, click the change button.. This should automatically change Doc's &
Settings folder too..

Incorrect.
While it would change the username, the Documents and Settings folder would
remain "Anne".

Sorry, I noticed the change in My Computer, without first checking
C:\Documents and Settings to see that the folder had indeed not changed..

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP,
you can use Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some
read the registered owner information dynamically, while others read
it only during installation.

The user profile folders (C:\Documents and Settings\Username)
_cannot_ be renamed, even if the associated user account has been.
So, your best course of action would be to log on using the built-in
Administrator account, create a new user account, with the username
desired. You can then delete the old user account(s).
