I downloaded the patch but I get an error message when I
try to install it. WEUpdate cannot retrieve information
needed for setup from database. Setup cannot continue.

Any idea why I am getting this msg.

Make sure you're running the patch on a machine that has the XPE tools
installed, and that you have a valid connection to a database from that
machine. You can check that by opening CDM (Component Database Manager) -
if you have a bad connection or a bad database server specified, you'll
see an error dialog and be prompted to change the server. Note that XPE
specific QFE packages are not meant to be installed on XPE runtimes, but
contain updates to the XPE database so future runtimes built contain the
QFE.

Make sure there are no tools open that access the database - close CDM,
CD, and TD before executing the patch.

You will also need to install Q811279, "Repository look-up may cause
incorrect files to be copied", from
http://microsoft.com/downloads/detai...-8285-4AB2-B75
3-C624C6B622DD&displaylang=en first. This QFE, among other things,
installs a repository to hold all QFE files for XPE with SP1.
