Help, my animations have quit working. When I go to any site with animated
gifs or to my website all the gifs. have stoped animating. Is there something
on my computer I can check to start the animations on the web again? Thought
is might be my browser Firefox, but don't work on Internet Explorer either.
Running XP Home SP2. Hp A200Y 40gb hard drive. 1024mem. High speed cable
connection.
Thanks D&K

See what program (if any) is currently setup to handle *.GIF images on your
system. The default program used for *.GIF images under Windows ME is the
"Windows Picture and Fax Viewer". If you have managed to get some other
program associated with GIF images, like MS PAINT, that does not support
animations or saving in any other format besides BMP, then you could have the
problem you are experiencing.

Open My Computer, select the C: drive and under Tools menu, select the
Folder Options (you can also get to it in Control Panel). Select the File
Types tab and under Registered file types, (click thetypes column so they
alphabetically)scan down the list of extensions and select the GIF - GIF
Image line. Under Details it will show you the application program you have
selected to show and handle GIF images on your system. Note which one is
selected and if it is not "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer", use the Change
button to select Image Preview. Then exit all programs (might be best to
reboot) and see if it solves your problem. If some other program as been
setup to handle GIF images, it might complain later or it might not
automatically open normal GIF files when you double click on them.

Also if you have Zone Alarm Firewall:
If you happen to have Zone Alarm as a firewall installed, it may be your
problem. It may block animations, in certain levels of security. To change
this setting, open the Zone Alarm control center, go to the "Privacy" tab.
Under the "Ad Blocking" heading click the "Custom" button. Go to the "Ads to
block" tab and uncheck "Animations". With that checked, it will cause the
same problem you are having.
