Animating text can be done by line (with hard returns separating), but not
within a line. My soluiton would be to duplicate the text box, remove all
animation, delete all but the letter that should remain, position directly
over letter in full text box.
Animate on the full text box, animate on with FADE, VERY FAST the single
letter text box, apply exit animation to full text box. You will be left
with the single letter text box.
Visually this will create the effect you are looking for.
