I used to have it there and after doing a reinstall of ultimate have
lost it and can't figure out how to get it back. Clicking on properties
on the task bar and then not. area the "network" box is greyed out. Any
help is appreciated.

Thanx,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Just a guess, but try:
- Control Panel
- Task Bar and Sart Menu setings
- Notification Area
- System Icons, Network
Make sure the "Network" check box is checked. If this is cleared, the
network icon will dissappear. If it is ticked, the network icon should
(hopefully) appear in the Notification Area.

Hope it helps a bit,
Andrew

Hmmm, in that case ... sorry, buggered if I know :-(

Is it a laptop by any chance? Do you have wireless networking? Is the
wireless adaptor powered on (many laptops have a small power switch for the
wireless adaptor on the front panel). Actually I just tested with my Toshiba
M400 and even with wireless switched Off, the network icon is still
available; but maybe there's something wrong in that general area, on your
machine? If you log in as Administrator, is there any change? (ie is it a
permissions issue?). Create a new test user, log in as teh new user, and see
if that user has the same problem (ie is the problem system wide, or
confined to your current user profiles?)

Hopefully other folks will have extra ideas for you.

Cheers
Andrew

Nope, not a laptop. I've been trying and still can't get it for some
reason. Had it once for a little while and then it was gone again.

Thank You,
Bob
