Animated gifs in Outlook e-mail not "animated"

I've recently installed Office XP 2002 (came with used computer I am now
using).

I cannot get animated .gif's to "animate" within a new e-mail I compose.
Tried sending the e-mail back to myself to see if it would be animated...nope.

Do NOT have "use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages" checked. (I know
this can stop animation.)

Was previously using Office Pro 2003 and .gif's were animated. (Plus all
security/pop-up blockers were configured the same).

What am I overlooking?? Thanks in advance for help.
