Analog Capture Tutorial

I am trying to do some analog captures, and am doing the ever popular
"playing". I have set up a custom capture of

720x480 CBR 8000kbs wmv9

As an attempt to get the best picture quality. I have done my editing
in WMM2.1, and saved to DVD.

The picture is pretty good, but I just was wondering if there was a
place that had a good tutorial on capturing analog, via WMM. I want to
get as close to the original, as possible.

I have found tutorials on capturing Digital, and using VirtualDub.

Digital is not an option, and I was hoping to stick w/ WMM, as my tool
of choice, as it appears pretty user friendly.

I have bought the book - Windows Movie Maker 2 Zero to Hero. I found
the book well written, but it doesn't really go into analog capture, to
the detail I want.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm using the Xpert DVD Maker. I know, it's cheap, but fixing the furnace
takes priority!

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty happy w/ the output I have from the
previously mentioned settings. It's just that I did it from "flipping a
coin", rather than having a good understanding of what I'm doing...

I ask because the device itself might constrain the upper limit of
quality...
