AMD's PIC boots Linux

I've always thought that AMD originally chose Windows CE for its PIC to
please Microsoft, but it was never seriously going to achieve $100
price ranges with that Microsoft tax around its neck. Now it looks like
it's sneaked Linux into the mix and Microsoft is none the wiser.

"AMD's PIC (personal Internet computer), an inexpensive Windows
CE-based computer aimed at developing nations, has successfully booted
Linux, according to a Siamese Wiki devoted to the OLPC (One Laptop per
Child) initiative. The Wiki shows the PIC runing an Edubuntu image
created for the OLPC project."

Thanks for linking that article.
This is an encouraging development.
I'm very interested to see how far it goes.

I was under the impression that AMD had locked out OS manipulation
through the original PIC's BIOS. It may have opened up the ability in
recent models maybe?
