Hi I had one more question. Whats a better buy, the AMD
Athlon 64 3000+ or the P4 3.06ghz or 3.2ghz? Will the amd
athlon 64 really offer better and faster performance
because of its integrated memory controller? Also I have
read that the Athlon 64 has no FSB, but then i have also
read that it does have a fsb of 800mhz and 1600mhz, so im
alittle confused over that also. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.

AMD uses what they call hyper transport which can be set to
800mhz or 1600mhz. I couldn't explain the technical differences.
I think that AMD has a better price / performance ratio.
Don't know if the integrated memory controller is faster or not,
but I if I put memory sticks in all three slots on my board it
won't run the memory at DDR400 but drops to DDR333

Hi Ameer,

As far as I am concerned AMD 64 is the way to go. 64 bit is the future.
Here the AMD FX-51 and FX-53 are better than the plain AMD 64. FX-51 is
socket 940, and FX-53 is both socket 940 and the newer socket 939. AMD 64
is available in 939 and 754 (939 is the newer design 754 will be phased out
in due time), and is available in 3000+, 3200+, 3400+, 3500+, 3700+, and
3800+. Regarding FSB please look up this link
http://www.computing.net/cpus/wwwboard/forum/9944.html

Thanks,

John J.

Hello

Going with AMD64 your getting a better product for your money and
your also saving money as well. So really comes down to what you
want to pay in the end

You could also check at www.anandtech.com and www.hardocp.com
they both have done good
comparisons. I agree with everybody that AMD is the way to go.

Technology. AMD pioneered this technology. AMD cannot compete with Intel
when it comes to Hertz (operations per second). But, AMD has overcome this
by engineering a far superior processor. The integrated memory controller is
a plus, yes. Note that it can only support DIMM RAM slots 1 and 2. So, if
you have three ram chips that are 400mhz initially, they will drop to
333mhz. Two ram chips would operate at 400mhz.

prices are FAR FAR cheaper. A good search engine for prices is
price-grabber.com. Make sure you get a PIB (processor in box) Comes with
fan, heatsink, thermal pad, warranty, processor, of course, and a little
sticker that says AMD. Proudly display that on your case. Up yours, Intel.

i hve something to say to i just bought an amd 64 2700 the lowest one of the amd64 and its great it works well and if you want a good price buy newegg.com the cheapest on the internet. Also intel is recalling the prescott cpus because of overheating so stay away from them. Amd is the way to go and the reason it say there is no fsb is becasue it is built into the chip itself so that it does not need a fsb.

Do you not have a return key on your keyboard? <G>
My prescott runs @ 100 to 110 degrees (F), which I don't think is that
hot.
