In the latest lobby against MPU maven Intel Corp., chipmaker Advanced
Micro Devices (AMD) today announced its transition to 65nm process
technology.

The move comes with the immediate availability of AMD’s
energy-efficient Athlon 64 X2 dual-core desktop processors
manufactured on 65nm technology, chips that the company claims will
idle at the extremely low power measurement of 7.5 watts for 65 watt
products and 3.8 watts for 35 watt products.

Lobby? Doesn't anyone bother to learn the meanings of words anymore? _Two_ of
these writers seem to think this word has some meaning that is valid in this
context. Sigh...

Yeah - I figure they confused "lob" and "volley" and came up with lobby.
Obviously their editor is not as anal as I am. :-)

These days, their editor is probably just a spellchecker. The word shows
up in the dictionary? Looks like a publishable material to me. :-)

There've been a lot of changes over at Reed. The "daily news" articles
which used to be published at www.electronicnews.com are now published at
www.edn.com, which used to publish only tech articles from the monthly
magazine and Brian (Dipert)'s Blog. IOW it may look like a drop in
standards at EDN it's a uhh, emm, "consolidation & raionalization" move at
Reed.... AFAICT. Makes ya wonder who's "winning"?
