a) I have nothing constructive to add, sorry but I have to rant

b) this is an x86-64 newsgroup, not 32-bit. I can kinda see if it was a
3100+ or mobile processor since they are on the same basic core. The 3000+
Sempron is, in a nutshell, a renamed Athlon XP Socket A.

Assuming you're talking about the S754 model, it will idle around 5-10C
above ambient air temp and go up another 10C under load, with the stock
cooler.

There were new socket 754 Semprons released 03/14/05. 2600+, 2800+, and
3000+, to go along with the 3100+..

My mistake. I had heard nothing about it, and AMD still lists the 3100+ as
the only socket 754 desktop processor, and the 2600+, 2800+, and 3000+ as
being only mobile processors.

But the sempron isn't strictly 64 bit. Hasn't 64 bit ops been disabled in
the sempron 754 chips?

The Sempron isn't 64-bit at all. Neither the socket A or socket 754
variations.

Yes they have, but basically, they are the same as the A64 and run on the
same MB. So i would say they would be OT here.
