I don't think you'll notice much of a difference tbh, they're both good.

My choice would be the i7 though, AMD never really cut the mustard with their quad core CPU's.

If you're not bothered about multi-tasking applications other than games, consider the highest speed AMD dual or triple core CPU, very reasonably priced.

But imo i7 king of the hill right now.

Tbh I'd try to wait a bit longer.
AMD are finishing off their desktop CPU with inbuilt GPU cores.

When used in combination with supported ATI cards it'll be hard to find an Intel system thats able to out perform an AMD one gaming wise.
