Like to know if there is any known problems installing
win2k on a system with AMD Athlon XP processor? A friend
is facing a problem such that he managed to install win2k
from the CDROM, but right after the first restart, the
system fails to boot up?

No, there are no known problems specific to AMD processors. What happens
when the computer tries to boot? Any error messages? Anything that might
tell us what is - or isn't - going on?

I tried to switch the CDROM from primary slave to
secondary master and the system is able to bootup to
windows 2000. I guess problem solved. Not realy sure why
its happening like that.
