I have a AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 1.99 GHz, 512 MB of RAM. Not sure if this is
the right newsgroup to ask this question but what I would like to know if
this motherboard can take a faster processor. It is a KT400-8235. Okay, if
this is the wrong newsgroup, could someone point me to the correct
newsgroup.

Thanks
Mary

The KT400-8235 designation refers to the chipset on your motherboard.. it is
neither the make or model number..

Best place to find the answer is in the user manual for the motherboard! It
should have been supplied with your computer.

Failing that, find out the proper Make / Model Number [open up the side
panel and look for this information which will be printed on the motherboard
- know not where]; then with this information in hand, do a Google entering
this information and it should identify the manufacturer's website where an
electronic copy of the manual may be available or else a page with
specifications should be viewable.

Having written all of this, depending upon the age of the Mobo, you may not
be able to find an appropriate CPU.
