Two computers I'm looking at with that processor. When I run System
Information on the display models at the store, here's what I get:

Compaq SR1650NX:

x86 Family 15, Model 47, stepping 2, 2200 MHz

eMachines T6524:

x86 Family 15, Model 47, stepping 0, 1989 MHz

Is either one of these a Venice E6? If not, what are they? It
looks like both are socket 939. Winchester? Newcastle?

And what's with the 1989 MHz speed on the eMachines?

If Cool n Quite is enabled you may get lower MHz readings,
depending on the CPU load at the time.

But the default Mhz for a 3500+ is......
ADA3500DEP4AS AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2200Mhz Socket 939 1.50V 89W
ADA3500DEP4AW AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2200Mhz Socket 939 1.50V 89W
ADA3500DIK4BI AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2200Mhz Socket 939 1.40V 67W
ADA3500DAA4BN AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2200Mhz Socket 939 1.35-1.40 V 67W
ADA3500DAA4BW AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2200Mhz Socket 939 1.35-1.40 V 67W
ADA3500DAA4BP AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2200Mhz Socket 939 1.35-1.40 V 67W

Not sure about the steppings, but the stepping 2 would be a newer core.
This site may have some info on A64 steppings, http://fab51.com/index-e.html

Good luck,
Ed

AFAIK that's a Venice E3 core but AMD only uses names like, Venice,
Winchester etc. in their roadmaps so it's always difficult to correlate.
There's an attempt at some explanation in this thread:

Venice E6 - does that exist? Neither is a Winchester (model 31) or
Newcastle (model 15) but the 3500+ is difficult since there are 6 different
core versions.

I'm not sure if Cool 'n' Quiet could hit that.
