i am trying to copy my pictures onto a cd but dont know if i am using
the right one. should i be using cd-r or cd+r? my cd's are cd-r, is
that maybe why they arent working?

Maybe if you describe your issue in more
detail someone can offer some suggestions.

There is no such thing as a CD+R.

There is no such thing as CD+R although you might come across DVD+R.
A CD-R will store your photos. You could also use a CD-RW which can be
changed later, but I would not recommend these for storing photos because I
have heard that they fade after a few years.
