Please do not use @microsoft.com as your domain unless you are a Microsoft
employee. Thank you.

Who is your mail server?
What type of account?
What problems are you having?

So it appears that you are using @mediacom.com as your ISP?

Thank you for telling us, (not), it would also have been nice to see the
error messages that you get when you try to send or receive mail.

Set up your account in accordance with the following, the settings for
Outlook Express, are exactly the same for Windows Mail:

http://www.mchsi.com/help/read/publi.../2002-01-28.01

If you are off the Mediacom Online network you can still access your e-mail
using your e-mail client. However, you will need to configure your e-mail
program to connect to our secure e-mail server via SSL. We have included
instructions here for four popular e-mail programs: Microsoft Outlook
Express, Netscape Communicator, Microsoft Outlook, and Qualcomm Eudora.

NOTE: If your PC is behind a firewall, you may not be able to download and
read your e-mail via SSL as described below. Your firewall may not allow
traffic on the ports required by SSL.

Configuring Outlook Express 5.0 and Higher

Launch Microsoft Windows Mail.

From the Tools menu, choose Accounts (the Internet Accounts window will
appear).

Select the Mail tab.

Select the mail account you wish to configure, and then choose the
Properties button.

Select the Servers tab.

In the Incoming mail (POP3) field, type mail.mchsi.com

In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field, type mail.mchsi.com

In the Account name field, enter your e-mail ID which is everything before
the @ symbol of your e-mail address.

In the Password field, enter your e-mail password. Note: The password will
not be visible as you type it.

Place a checkmark beside the My server requires authentication option.

Choose the Settings button.

Select the "Log on using" option.

In the Account name field, enter your Mediacom Online e-mail address.

In the Password field, enter your e-mail password. Note: The password will
not be visible as you type it.

Place a checkmark beside the Remember password option.

Choose the OK button. You will return to the Properties window.

Select the Advanced tab.

The Outgoing mail (SMTP) port number should be changed to 465.

Place a checkmark beside, "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".

The Incoming mail (POP3) port number should be set to 995.

Place a checkmark beside, "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".

Choose the Apply button, choose the OK button, and then choose the Close
button.

If the above fails Call their tech support line and ask for the Windows Mail
setup information.

They took down the page that I referenced the above info from.
