How can I tell if I'm in safe or normal mode in MS Outlook 2003?

It'll say "Safe Mode" on the title bar at the top.

Thank you very much !!
It appears that after starting in safe mode "once" it has deleted all my
emails and contacts...
Is this true ?

I should have mentioned that it appears to be running in "normal" mode.
Again, thanks,
Lynn

I've never heard of safe mode deleting e-mails and contacts.

When you go to your Inbox is it empty? Do you see your messages in the
Deleted Items folder? Do you see items of yours in other folders - such
as Sent Items or Calendar?

Find your pst files and see if you have more than one - outlook may have
made a new one.
see http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/filepath.htm if you need help

Thank you Ben and Diane for your time on this issue.
When I first got Outlook to work, after many peoblems with errors with
"improper closing of personal folder" in Safe mode, it received four emails.
At this point I suspended the send and receive function so as not to have
outlook receive my mail
so that I could get in Outlook express. Express has been doing fine.
Now to answer your question Ben.
All folders are enpty...except the four in the inbox.
So I'll try to use Diane's idea to find them.

Thanks again,
Lynn

Diane, I found one file containing pst files (office data files). Is this
