i am not able to type in the message box when trying to send a new message.
it lets me type the e-mail address to where it is going and from but does not
let me type my message

What do you mean "doesn't let me" type the message? What happens when you
try?

It would help if you'd give a little bit more info, like
- Outlook version?
- message type?
- email editor (Word or Outlook)?
- anything else that is relevant (when did the problem start)?
