I have installed Office 2007 on my computer and it was working fine. After a
while I could no longer open the Outlook application either from the desktop
icon or from the Programs listing. Other Office applications like WORD and
EXCEL still open and work fine. What could be causing this problem? How can
I fix it? Thank you.

What happens when you try to open Outlook? Are there any error messages? Have
you checked the Task Manager (processes tab) to see if Outlook.exe is
running?

When Outlook loads, it also has to load all enabled add-ons. If an
add-on hangs or crashes on load then so does Outlook. When Outlook
unloads, it first has to unload all enabled add-ons. If an add-on hangs
or crashes on unload then so does Outlook. See where I'm going with
this?

Start Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe"). This loads
Outlook but without any add-ons or COM plug-ins. If the problem goes
away, you have a defective add-on or COM plug-in. To determine if the
problem is with an add-on or COM plug-in, and while Outlook managed to
load okay in its safe mode, disable all add-ons and whatever COM
plug-ins are listed. Then load Outlook in its normal mode. If the
problem reappears, it is caused by a COM plug-in not listed by Outlook.
In that case, and because you cannot disable it in Outlook, go look in
the Add/Remove Programs applet to uninstall whatever software installed
that COM plug-in that isn't listed in Outlook, and then retest Outlook
in its normal mode (still with all add-ons and listed COM plug-ins
disabled). If Outlook loads okay, you need to figure out which add-ons
or listed COM plug-in is the culprit. You can then reenable one add-on
at a time and then load Outlook in its normal mode to see if it loads
okay. Then repeat for each add-on until you hit the problem again
whereupon you know it was the just previously re-enabled add-on that
caused the problem.
