I am no longer able to install anything!

I am experiencing a problem with win2k pro and am
wondering if it is a known issue or not.
I have just installed 2k and have been installing apps
for about a few hours now. I have got to about 20 -25
programs installed when I found that I could not install
any further. Whenever I try to run a setup program for any
application it goes into the installation process and then
at some random point, a hard reset is induced.
Anyone know what is going on?
