I am having Problems adding descriptions to photo gallery pics

When I try to add a description to a picture in a photo gallery it simply
fails to appear, no warning nothing. I have typed in the info when I click
'ok' not only does the information fail to show up but when I open up the
photo gallery the information just typed in the description box has
disappeared as well, what am I doing wrong?
