Hello,
I'm feeling very stupid and very lost. I'm attempting to create a new site
and FrontPage will not let me create it in my "root directory". I know that's
not the right term, but I literally know nothing about publishing to the www.

I get the error message "cannot create root web at www.domainname.com". It's
telling me I can create a subweb at that location. eg -
www.domainname.com/subweb.

If I do that will people see my site when they enter www.domainname.com in
their browsers.

Does that make sense? Please help. Many thanks!

When you web host set up your account, a web was already created, so you do not need to create one,
just use File Menu | Open Web / Site and then enter http://www.yourdomainname.com and your login
info, then you can start create/adding content to your web site.

If you feel your current issue is a results of installing
a Service Pack or security update, please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services:

If the problem can be shown to have been caused by a
security update, then there is usually no charge for the call.

He will be working "live" in this case.

I prefer creating and editing as a disk-based web and then publishing so
that I have a safety net. I've found that some hosts have different
requirements for what you enter in the "publish to" box. One of them is
"accountsupport.mydomain.com" another is just "mydomain.com" and another
requires the full url. I use File | Publish Site and enter the appropriate
information provided by the hosting company.
