Every time I exit Word 2002 I get an error message that
says "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs
to close." It then asks if I want to recover my work and
restart Word and to send a report to MS. My work has
never been damaged and I've searched the KS to try and
find a resolution but can't locate anything. Anyone have
this problem? Anyone know how to fix it?

You may want to tap the F1 key now. Search on - normal.dot.
Then delete the normal.dot
Reboot

You might try the troubleshooting tips at

apply to problems closing Word.
